Would you like to see the whole of Switzerland in just an hour? Then come to SWISSMINIATUR located near Melide, a romantic village on the shores of Lake Lugano. Established in 1959, this open-air miniature park is one of the most popular tourist attractions for visitors to Ticino and Northern Italy. You will be enchanted by the beautiful models and carefully landscaped grounds. The park is surrounded by famous mountains such as Monte Generoso, Monte San Salvatore and Monte San Giorgio and extends over a green area of 14,000 square metres. It comprises more than 120 models of famous buildings and monuments of Switzerland at a scale of 1:25.
There is lots of action for all age groups. A 3,560 metre long model railway with 18 trains runs through the park. Watch the many trains run along the tracks, cross bridges and stop at stations. Boats steam across lakes, cars fly by on motorways while cable cars and funiculars go up and down the mountains. Garden lovers will enjoy the beautifully landscaped park with 1500 different species and varieties and over 15000 flowering plants. For children, SWISSMINIATUR offers a range of exciting rides and games. All this will no doubt make you hungry. SWISSMINIATUR can be reached by motorway, train or by boat from Lugano. The train station and motorway exit are only 300 m away from the entrance and there is ample parking for cars and coaches.
