San Giorgio, Carona

The parochial church of Sant'Ambrogio is located to the south of the village. Here you find a unique copy of the world-famous "Last Supper" by Leonardo da Vinci. Originally, the parish was part of the archdiocese of Milan, hence the connection to the original fresco. The building is a cross church with a semicircular choir from 1835. The Romanesque origins of the church are still visible in the bottom section of the bell tower with its single and double arched windows on the first three floors. The tower was probably extended upwards in the 17th or 19th century.
