Description

The church was built in 1592 on the site of an earlier church dedicated to Saint Biagio. The new building was consecrated in 1602. The choir was extended around 1750, while the façade in the Neo-Baroque style was added in 1909/1910. The nave extends into a barrel vault. Above the choir, we find an octagonal tambour dome. The late Baroque marble altar is decorated with a statue of the Holy Virgin Mary. The stuccowork by Camuzzi and the frescoes by Carlo Carloni date from around 1760. The cornice extending along the side walls of the nave is supported by columns with al-fresco paintings and depicts scenes from the life of Saint Rocco and Saint Sebastian. It dates from the late 17th century. The vault is richly decorated with paintings and architectural features. In the side chapel to the north, we find stuccowork and frescos from the 17th century. The stucco altarpiece shows the birth of Christ.
